How do you qualify?
Before the first purchase, confirm that your account is new, US-eligible and actually shows this incentive. Complete required verification, inspect the trade preview, and make the qualifying first single purchase within the displayed deadline if you choose to trade. Claim the reward using the offer flow.
Why is "up to $2,000" not the right expectation?
The maximum is an uncommon outcome. The official terms state 99% receive between $10 and $100, and 1% receive between $1,000 or $2,000. A precise expected value cannot be computed because the probabilities of each individual reward are not disclosed.
Does two purchases of $25 work?
No. The US first-buy terms say multiple purchases totaling $50 do not qualify, and a first purchase below $50 forfeits the incentive. The first transaction's structure matters, not just cumulative spending.
How is this different from referrals?
Personal-referral and affiliate incentives are separate programs. Coinbase's help pages describe different referral windows, so we do not combine those terms with this first-buy incentive. Joining through a referral can make other new-user incentives unavailable. Review one actual signup offer rather than stack incompatible headlines.
What does the trade cost?
Coinbase says fees depend on payment method, order size, market conditions, location and asset. Simple buy/sell quotes include spread. The live preview shows the total and should be checked before confirming. Cash-out and network charges can reduce value later.
Is it worth trading for the reward?
The reward is Bitcoin, whose value can move. Crypto bought to qualify can also lose value. Net benefit is the realized reward less fees, spread, price movement and exit costs; those inputs are not known in advance. Do not read this page as a recommendation to buy crypto.
What protection applies?
FDIC deposit insurance does not cover crypto assets. An exchange promotion is not a bank deposit bonus. Account reviews, eligibility restrictions and provider discretion remain in the terms.

Common questions
Is every new user guaranteed $2,000?
No. Coinbase states most participants receive $10-$100, with eligibility reviews and other limits.
Can I use existing transferred crypto to buy?
The documented incentive excludes purchases made with assets transferred to your portfolio.
Can it stack with a referral?
The US first-buy terms say it cannot be combined with other offers, incentives or codes. Read the signup offer before choosing the route.
Does Bitcoin keep its reward value?
No. The terms say the deposited reward can rise or fall in value.
